Publisher To Make Clones of Mysterious Voynich Manuscript

The Voynich manuscript is on of the most mysterious books in the world. It was brought to light in 1912 by Wilfrid Voynich and for decades experts have tried to decode the strange passages with little success. The manuscript currently resides in the Beinecke Rare Book and MS Library of Yale University and is very rarely able to be seen.

Now, a publishing company in Spain, Siloe, which specializes in making facsimiles of old manuscripts, has bought the rights to create 898 clones of the manuscript. They plan to recreate the book exactly, down to the very last stain, hole, and imperfection.

The company plans to charge $7,800 to $8,900 each once they are completed. Close to 300 people have already put in pre-orders.

It will take the company about 18 months to complete the first copies.
